Love your Neighbour

‘Jesus said “Which of these three do you think was neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”
The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise”
(Luke 10:36-37)

Love of neighbour is a summary of the teaching of the law of God as it applies to other humans.
The expert in the law had just asked Jesus who his neighbour was,
no doubt trying to limit the number of such people. Jesus replied with the unforgettable parable
of the Good Samaritan, and told the lawyer not who his neighbour was,
but to be a neighbour and one who loved all people. Care for those who need help,
the elderly the sick, the disadvantaged, the homeless, the sad, is integral to our discipleship.
This means loving those who have no call upon us by birth or by friendship.
All people are our neighbours.

Question for thought: Am I a good neighbour?

We give thanks Lord, that Zambia has remained relatively stable over the years.
Be with members of Mothers Union as they encourage Christian family life through marriage preparation,
campaigning against gender-based violence and promoting health awareness programs.
Help them to encourage families to understand the Scriptures so they can share it with their families. Amen
