Family Relationships
‘Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other,
just as in Christ God forgave you.’
(Ephesians 4:32)
One of the blessings that a Christian family will have is the capacity for repentance and forgiveness.
Jesus pointed out that since we are forgiven at such a cost by God, we ought to forgive each other.
Sometimes parents will need to ask children for forgiveness, and naturally,
parents ought to end each day in prayer with one another, based on our forgiveness by Jesus.
Of course there are tragic and sinful events which may means that even a Christian couple must separate
and we need to think how repentance and forgiveness applies there.
But in most ordinary circumstances, forgiveness is essential to ongoing health.
Question for thought: Do I hold grudges, or do I forgive?
Almighty and gracious God, we offer our prayers to you for the nation of Tonga,
recovering the violent volcano and earthquake forces, and the tsunami waves that followed in January 2022.
We ask for your healing presence in their lives. May they be sustained through the recovery.
We pray for the small group of Mothers Union members as they support and care for those around them.
In Jesus name. Amen.
