Peace with God

‘Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

(Romans 5:1)

The Bible describes us as enemies of God because of our sin (Romans 5:10).
The most desperate need that we have is to be reconciled with God.
This has happened though the death of Jesus through
which we are justified by faith and by which we have peace with God.
We are forgiven, unworthy as we are as we trust in Jesus.
No wonder the great hymn writer, Isaac Watts described this as ‘the wondrous cross’.
When we have peace with God, we will know the peace of God.

Question for thought: What is my favourite hymn about Jesus?

Gracious Lord, our hearts are heavy at the continued conflict in Sudan.
Christianity is in the minority and membership in Sudan is relatively small,
and so we pray for Members in Khartoum who are very active
in their local communities reaching out to all.
Give them a deep trust in you and courage as they often face opposition.
May there be an end to the conflict. In Jesus, name. Amen
