Thy Kingdom Come

What dreams we weave – of the dream wedding, the dream home,
the bucket list items, holidays, a new kitchen.
And then we will be better, happier, safer, more fulfilled.
If we are honest we are deluding ourselves that everything will change.
We may think God’s Kingdom means churches full of nice people,
whereas the gospels tells us that the people around Jesus were the rejects,
that his friends were a frightened bunch until they caught a vision
of the kingdom as the company of those who saw visions and dreamt dreams.

May we pray for eyes to see the Kingdom.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Matthew 6:10

New Zealanders say they live in God’s Own Country. As we pray for members there,
we give thanks for inter-racial mutuality within Mothers’ Union,
and a willingness to grow in the faith through worship and quiet days.
