Environmental Issues

The environment is that which surrounds us – where we live and move and have our being.
Many of us can choose what our environment is –
we have a dwelling place and in it we put the necessities of life,
table chairs bed etc etc – and, according to our means and taste, we add – stuff.
It is all the stuff the makes our environment and –
eventually, it the wider scheme of things – destroys it.
When we truly want to address the situation, we will do as Jesus bids us:

Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap,
they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them.
Of how much more value are you than the birds!
And which of you by worrying can add a single hour to your span of life?
If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest?
Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you,
even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.
But if God so clothes the grass of the field,
which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven,
how much more will he clothe you, you of little faith!

Luke 12: 24-28

And then we begin to change our ways.

Decisions are more immediate in the diocese of Rumonge in Burndi where the environment
in three localities was seriously affected by heavy rain that devastated infrastructures and crops.
46 houses, 9 churches, 21 classrooms and various crops have been destroyed.
Please pray for the victims and the restoration of their buildings, crops and lives.
