Championing Gender Justice
‘Honour your Father and your Mother…’
(Exodus 20:12)
In the very heart of God’s ten commandments there is this reminder of the equality of male and female.
After all, it takes both a man and a woman to create a child and to raise it.
Mother and father will bring different gifts to the family,
but they are equally needed, equally precious and equally to be honoured.
In old age they should be equally cared for.
Our special differences do not allow for injustice and especially not for ill-treatment within a family or outside it.
God summons us to love one another.
Question for self: Do I love all people?
Loving Lord, we do pray for right and just relationships between men and women.
We praise you that we are all one in Christ Jesus.
We pray too for Madagascar as it copes with extreme poverty that in some way
their needs will be met and that marriages will be free from injustice and domestic abuse. Amen
