Made in God’s Image
‘…in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them’
(Genesis 1:27)
The idea of being God’s image bearers is that we are not like the rest of creation.
We are especially precious to God, and we are commissioned by him to rule his creation under him.
The catastrophe of the Fall described in Genesis 3 means that we are in many ways unfit to rule.
We exploit the creation rather than care for it and we exploit and harm each other.
God calls on us even in this world to act with justice and compassion, and when we hear of evils being done,
(for example, Female Genital Mutilation which is still widespread in some areas),
we need to pray and do what we can to help the victims and stop the practice.
Question for self: Do I act with justice and compassion?
Loving God, we praise you for the way in which members in South Korea have been active in
both rural and urban areas and the way they have coped with the many challenges in modern family life.
Give them wisdom in sharing your Word.
We also pray for members in the Riverina in NSW as there are small congregations across large distances.
Help them not to feel discouraged. Amen
